The nearest airport is Halifax International, a three hour drive from Birchdale. There are several car rental companies at the airport and an airport shuttle to Yarmouth.
Ferries currently run from Saint John, New Brunswick, to Digby, Nova Scotia. Birchdale is an hour and fifteen minutes to the north.
